Cavalier Club Redevelopment Update

September 03, 2026 9:25 PM | Ileana Ciobanu (Administrator)

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved the rezoning for redevelopment of the Cavalier Club property at 6200 Wilson Boulevard on July 14, 2026. The project will add approximately 250 apartments, ground-floor retail, and a new parking garage while retaining the existing Cavalier Club building.

One important issue remains unresolved: VDOT has denied the proposed reduction of lanes on Wilson Boulevard from two lanes to one. Planners will therefore need to consider alternative ways to improve pedestrian safety while maintaining adequate traffic capacity.

Although the formal public-comment period has ended with the County’s approval, DHCA expects to remain involved. We have a good working relationship with Fairfax County’s Mason District staff and anticipate continuing discussions as the project moves forward, including its construction schedule, traffic and pedestrian improvements, tree-loss mitigation, parking, and other impacts on surrounding neighborhoods.
